What is "Reconnaissance"?

What is reconnaissance :

In the Ethical Hacking reconnaissance is very important and basic step before attacking the system or server for reconnaissance you can use Phishing method too for attacking it not works much but helpful.

There are two types for doing reconnaissance one is active and another one is passive.

Active reconnaissance

If we are directly interacting with the target's computer or system to gain information we can called it active reconnaissance.

There Huge risk of getting detected. 

Passive reconnaissance

In this passive reconnaissance we are not directly interacting with the system.

We use this method to obtain information about target by various detection methods. This method includes Foot printing, Scanning and Enumeration. Obtaining information about servers or the systems as much as possible. There are various steps such as 

- Gathering as much information as possible which also can be called foot printing

- Identification of active machines in the system or getting system information

- Determination of network range 

- Discovering open ports and access points on the system

- Fingerprint the OS

- Uncover services on ports

- Mapping the network

In Ethical Hacking at basic level You must know about - Security - Foot printing, reconnaissance, scanning networks, Enumeration, system hacking, Trojans and back-doors, viruses and worms, sniffing, social engineering, denial of service, hacking web servers and web applications, SQL injection, hacking wireless networks,  Penetration testing, Evading IDS, Firewall and Honey ports.
